Sustainment

The infected are in northern Salt Lake City and slowly advancing southward. This positioning gives our institution, the South Main Health Clinic, a marginal time to prepare. The instructions provided should be enacted immediately to ensure the security and safety of the people of Salt Lake City and South Main Health Clinic.
Life sustainment generally requires only food and water, yet this catastrophe will soon prove weapons and medical supplies to be just as vital. The Cabela’s website provides a page titled “Don’t rely on luck. 13 skills for survival,” which quizzes the reader and judges their level of preparation. This resource is an impressive resource for learning where your survival skills are proficient, and where they are lacking, and even provides you with the information you might need to survive during a disaster, or in our case: necrotic outbreak. Food will be essential during this undead disaster, and will be provided by the Utah Food Bank, where a fellow task force group will institute a similar plan for survival and sustainment, to ensure the safety and survival of as many Salt Lake City citizens as possible.
A necrotic outbreak, if nothing else, will prove that survival is subject to preparation. Ideally, disaster kits will be prepared in case the South Main Health Clinic is overrun and requires evacuation. These disaster kits should obviously be prepared before they are needed, and should be readily available in some form of backpack for optimal mobility. Water will be difficult to bring in bulk, considering the quantity required. The CDC provides a list, Emergency preparedness and Response, that can be used as a reference for recommended supplies to have prepared for this catastrophe. Communication will prove vital throughout this disaster, and establishing a means for it should be top priority. In Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Zombies, Matt Mogk shares his knowledge regarding The Federal Communication Commission (FCC), and the tips they provide regarding communication. “1. No nonemergency calls. 2. Keep calls brief. 3. Text message instead. 4. Wait between calls. 5. Have charged batteries. 6. Save emergency calls. 7. Don’t talk and drive. 8. Have a clear plan. 9. Forward calls. 10. Own a corded phone” (188-189). This communication advice are useful, but not necessarily reliable. Communication takes many forms besides the modern cell phone medium. More traditional communication consists of walkie talkies and radios, which will likely prove more reliable during the outbreak.
Weapons:
Many may consider killing a zombie to be an easy task, yet it will prove quite arduous. In reality, zombies are quite durable and require impressive technique guided by a steady hand. Simply injuring an infected will prove useless against the zombie’s extraordinary durability. In order to kill a zombie, you must drive your axe, bullet, bat, or any other joyful killing machine, through the infected’s skull. The renown Mythbusters showcased their axe – gun comparison in their “Zombie Apocalypse Survival: Axe vs. Gun” episode. They demonstrate the effectiveness of an axe, followed by a gun, in eliminating the infected onslaught. Adam Savage tests his swing against the power needed to slay a zombie.
These weapons are quite creative, and certainly effective! Don’t be afraid to stylize your own weapon. The mental reinforcement is welcome during these troubling times.
The video only demonstrates a gun and an axe. In reality, however, you will need far greater variety in your arsenal to deal with a threat of this magnitude. You shouldn’t assume a weapon you will use during the outbreak, but rather treat the following as applicable weapons: ANYTHING YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON! That’s right, seriously. You can’t expect your dream weapon to fall into your hands as the infected swarm around you. Use anything you have available as a weapon. So long as an object can be held and is either heavy or allows for a good swing, it can save your life. Baseball bats are fairly commonplace and quite mainstream, but that’s for a reason. Few weapons prove more effective than one of these traditional sport-sticks. They’re also among the easiest of weapons to modify and improve, but remain impactful alone. You can easily spike up a bat to add marginal penetration, and even stick a blade on the end of one, provided you manage to find one. Even if you can’t find a baseball bat, there’s no end to the number of improvised weapons you could use to ward off these nasties.
Here is a general list on what weapons you should grab and have ready for a zombie apocalypse:

Bat
Sword
Knife
Axe
Cricket bat
Guns not matter the type
Saw gas powered.

There are many more items that you can use for weapons but these are the most likely to help you stay alive the longest.
You will need to know how to do a few things in a zombie outbreak. You’ll need to know how to tie knots, hunt, fish, build shelter and much more. The best way to learn about these are through classes and doing them yourself. The most important thing is the medical supplies, food, water and shelter.
